School of Complex Past | Open Call

“School of Complex Past: Migration” 3-day intensive programme
September 20-22

Deadline to apply - September 10.

The CSN Lab is initiating a new phase of the annual “School of Complex Past” project. This year’s thematic focus encompasses the challenges of forced displacement, refuge and migration within the context of wars and conflicts.

As part of the 3-day intensive programme, the chosen applicants will have an opportunity to be part of:
*Thematic lectures and discussions;
*Workshops;
*Events of the “Open Mic” format;
*Presentations of books and multimedia projects;
*Memory tour in Yerevan.

Since 2020, over 100,000 forcibly displaced people have moved to Armenia as a result of subsequent military operations, and escalations. The situation becomes even more intense and alarming in the context of other conflicts and wars occurring in the region.

In the framework of the “School of Complex Past” project, we will delve into a variety of cultural and social issues such as migration and memory politics, architecture, literature, photography, and other topics. Through in-depth study and reflection, we aim to understand how key historical events and current affairs are interconnected, as well as examine the impact of the migration crisis and refugee flows on today’s multi-layered reality.

Cultural practitioners, artists, CSO representatives, and media professionals are welcome to join the “School of Complex Past: Migration.” The participation of displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh in our project is crucial to us.

The "School of the Complex Past" will take place in Yerevan from September 20-22. To participate in the program, please fill out the application:
